The job market has changed rapidly, and it will not look the same anymore.

Decades ago, no one could even imagine they would stay at home and earn money using the internet. Today about 4.7 million people all over the world work online. A global survey conducted by Gartner, Inc. found that 88% of business organizations all over the globe mandated or encouraged all their employees to work from home because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Remote work (or WFH) is something unique the people never faced before. Can we say that Remote work is the new black? - Definitely!

For many people, work in the office is something close to struggling. Office workers, often stressed out as have to stay in the office regardless of productivity, they have to be on time at the working place even though there is might not be a reason for that, and hundreds more "you have to."

Nowadays, we all know that there are many positions where we don't need to go out of our homes to work or study, and we don't have to face all the cons office work has.

It becomes even better as many business owners realized that if you give your employees the power of freedom and trust, they will feel their importance of being needed and do more than they could ever do in the office. "The more freedom people got, the less they use it."

There are lots of pros and cons to this topic, and all of them are meaningful. But let's take a look at some advantages of working remotely.

Flexible timetable

It means a better work-life balance. There is no need to sacrifice things that are important in your life. You can make a comfortable schedule without getting up early if you don't like it, doing sports in the morning if it's a better fit for you, taking your children to school, or picking them up. You can plan your day by yourself. That also helps you to become more responsible and productive because prioritizing tasks.

location independence

If raveling is of high importance, a remote job is the best option for you. You can choose the country of the world to live in: next to the ocean, high in the mountains, as long as there is the internet excess, it is your workplace.

You can make a plush office in your house, or you can work in an inspiring, cozy, and comfortable cafe the next day. It even could be a subway if your battery full and you've got a stable internet connection.

Money-saving

Gas, car maintenance, transportation, parking fees, a professional wardrobe, lunches bought out, and more. Is that sound familiar? Have you ever calculated how costly it is for your household budget? Would not you prefer all those spends to fund your vacation trip to the Caribbean? If I were you, I would.

You reduce all those expenses or eliminate them entirely. Since remote work allows you to avoid buying things you don't admire, you can work less and get more because you spend only on the necessary staff.

Productivity

The eight-hour workday is not based on the optimal number of hours a human can efficiently concentrate. It has almost nothing to do with the work most people do now.

The origins of the eight-hour workday lie in the Industrial Revolution, not the Information Age. Instantly, the workday is ripe for another disruption.

Research suggests that the average worker is only productive for two hours and 53 minutes in an eight-hour day. That's right - you're probably only productive for around three hours a day.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average American works 8.8 hours every day. Yet a study of nearly 2,000 full-time office workers revealed that most people aren't productive for most of their time at the workplace.

It means that there is no need to stay in the office for 8-9 hours. You can provide the necessary results anywhere in 3-4 hours.

How to be more productive

Despite all the benefits, lots of people and businesses are frightened of remote work.

Many people cannot work outside the office because of the lack of self-organization. They have to be under supervision and are terrified when they stay on their own. It results in constant procrastination and missed deadlines.

Many businesses cannot imagine they do not see where their employees right now and what they are doing as they did not create a result-oriented working environment yet.

That's why you need to improve your remote work skills and work on yourself. At this point, you likely ask yourself: what should I start with to become more productive when WFH?

Manage you time

Start with planning your day. Define the exact for each of your activities during the day: work, meetings, breakfast, lunch, dinner, workout. Decide how many uninterrupted hours a day you can productively work to produce the best results.

When your work from home time management system is in place, you will be surprised that you have much more time than you thought.

First things first

What is the necessary thing you have to do first? - ask yourself and do it one by one. Make a grade of obligations you have to do at first and things that can wait. And when you work on something, focus only on that task and forget about all the others.

Create new habits

Working at the office, you have small habits that you enjoy a lot. Small talk with your colleagues, a cup of coffee, a nicely arranged workplace. Therefore, you have to recreate the same or an alternative at home. Or find a place that inspires you to work. Anyways, think about what helps you enjoy having a job at home and make it real.

Summary

I mentioned just a few benefits, but even that is enough to conclude that remote work is awesome.

I'm not going to write: "You can sip your favorite drink and enjoy the ocean breeze..." however it sounds great, but you probably already read that.

If you work at yourself, you desire to be disengaged, not tight with the routine - you will like to work remotely, and you won't imagine your life a different way.

You can start enjoying a life where work doesn't feel exhausting anymore, a life where you can dedicate more time to studying, friends, family, and yourself. A life where the host of everything that is going on around is you. Doesn't it sound amazing?
